CASINO NIGHT
JUST WHAT IS A SCHOOL CASINO NIGHT?
Contrary to what people often think, in Alberta, a casino night is not a mock casino held at the school where you come in to place your bets and support your student's school.
Unlike other provinces, Alberta has a unique charitable gaming model where charitable organizations are licensed to conduct and manage casino events. In other words, charitable organizations can provide volunteers to work shifts at a casino, in exchange for which they receive a portion of the proceeds.
So on Casino Night, School Council gathers a slew of volunteers who work various shifts at the casino, for which the Council is given a portion of the casino's profits on that evening.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
CASINO NIGHT IS SCHOOL COUNCIL'S PRIMARY SOURCE OF FUNDING.
The Casino night is our primary funding source and earns Sunnyside School Council enough to fund school initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities for an entire school year. A typical casino night can raise between $40,000 and $70,000 for your student's school council.
BUT THERE'S A CATCH.
If an organization cannot find enough volunteers to fill all of the required casino shifts, then the proceeds from the evening are forfeited.
Consider adding your name to the volunteer list.
